We'll be back to regular programming real soon!
As you can see, this isn't a regular weekly wrap. Looking back, I'm a little amazed at myself for having sent out a wrap last weekend.
No joke, I haven't been so ill in a long time. The day after the Transformative Justice Collective closed our series of World Day Against the Death Penalty events, I woke up with a scratchy throat and headache that felt like a cold I just needed to sleep off, then proceeded to morph into a beast that I'm now told is likely some sort of viral infection. This poor body has really been going through it these past couple of weeks: fatigue, chills, cold sweat, muscle ache, sleepless nights, coughing fits, blocked nose, bad skin reactions... 🤧😭😵
I was scheduled to be a speaker at this year's Splice Beta in Chiang Mai, but have had to pull out because the prospect of presenting and socialising over a packed three days—even at my favourite media festival—felt like way too much, especially considering other work commitments I have on the horizon. (If you're going, I hope you have lots of fun and maybe I'll catch you next year!)
On the bright side, I think (hope!) the worst is behind me now. The meds from my first visit to the GP didn't do much, but the second batch seem to be helping a lot more—at the very least, I can get a decent night's sleep now, and the ability to rest is really helping with everything else. Still, considering that a weakened immune system from overwork and sleep deprivation was likely a contributing factor to wiping out this completely in the first place, I'm going to ease myself back into work very gently and slowly rather than diving back into everything right away. That's why I'm taking this weekend off We, The Citizens, and possibly next weekend as well (depending on how things go with the post-MC backlog that's awaiting me).
That said, we've made it to November! It's my birthday (and therefore my favourite) month, and it's become a bit of a tradition to share discount links in both my birthday month and We, The Citizens' birthday month (in April). So here we go—20% off all the subscription tiers offered! Just click on the tier you'd like below and off we go.
Thank you so much, as always, for reading and supporting We, The Citizens. You'll be hearing from me—healed and recharged—soon!
